Yasmin Rombola-Bacchus, BA, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), Dipl. Psych.
(She/Her/They/Them)

Years ago, I decided to devote my mind, heart, and soul from the visual arts to the field of psychotherapy. Although I look back on this experience with gratitude and a humbled lens, I always felt I wasn’t able to do the work I was born to do: sit with people, in their pain, patiently, searching for the answers and moments that will ultimately lead to a sense of inner peace.

As a psychotherapy client myself, I was struck by the magic that talk therapy provided me to help make sense of my experiences and gain clarity in my not-so-clear world. My own childhood and adolescence was difficult as I battled against anxiety, PTSD and depression. I was also experiencing abuse and I developed many coping mechanisms during this time, many of them unhealthy. When I started to willingly participate in my own healing, my life changed. It was as if I had been fighting to tread water for years and finally someone was throwing me a life raft.

I became educated, set achievable goals, learned how my past was impacting my present, recognized unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, healed my nervous system, and took accountability for myself and my life. My healing journey eventually led me to graduate school where I studied psychotherapy and the visual arts. Being a therapist and guiding others through their own healing journeys is my purpose, my calling, and my joy.

In my practice, I meet clients where they’re at and aim to walk alongside them as a supportive guide in their therapeutic journey. Therapy is different for everyone. For some, it’s about healing past trauma or having a space to confide in someone unrelated to their circumstance; for others, it’s about finding closure, self exploration, personal growth, or trying to ‘hold on’ during an emotionally volatile time. Ultimately, I provide a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere where I welcome my clients to just be while we navigate life’s struggles.

Treatment Approach

peace and calmMy therapeutic approach is guided by the principles of trust, safety, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. I draw heavily on psychodynamic, narrative and solution focused approaches. In therapy, we will engage in reflection on how your past experiences impact your present thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. By externalizing any challenges, we can gain a different perspective, helping you to feel empowered as you take control of your own story. I also offer clients actionable strategies to help support emotion and nervous system regulation.
